01 — Overview

Why HyTruck?

The EU Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation requires member states to provide hydrogen refuelling infrastructure along the TEN-T core network by end of 2030. With the deadline approaching, many practical questions remain unresolved.

HyTruck supports public authorities in planning the development of a transnational network of green hydrogen refuelling stations suited for heavy-duty trucks — engaging regional and national authorities, scientific institutions, SMEs and business support organisations in a triple-helix approach.

  • What technology suits long-distance heavy-duty transport?
  • When does hydrogen become competitive as fuel?
  • How to coordinate HRS deployment across member states?
  • How to simplify permitting and incentivise first movers?

CLIC's role in HyTruck

CLIC Innovation's main role in HyTruck was to strengthen stakeholder engagement and knowledge exchange around hydrogen refuelling infrastructure for heavy-duty transport. As coordinator of GoA 3.3, CLIC organised and delivered the HyTruck Breakfast Briefings, a transnational exchange channel bringing together infrastructure developers, public authorities, logistics companies, researchers, technology providers, and hydrogen experts.
